Lupita Nyong’o has hailed Black Panther as a “beautiful thing to behold” at the London premiere of the Marvel film.

Speaking to ITV London, Nyong’o said: “I think people are ready to see a film like this. A predominately black cast, African story and a celebration of African culture on a very big scale. It’s a look and feel like something you’ve never seen before.”

The actress – who plays Nakia in the upcoming film – continued: “It is [groundbreaking]. It is a beautiful thing to behold.

“All of us are often asked to relate to white characters and now it’s time for the world to relate to black characters and what you realise is that we are the same.

“This kind of thing it’s amazing that it is happening now, it’s a beautiful thing. This is time for it and we’re ready,” she added.

And the Oscar-winning actress tipped co-star Daniel Kaluuya for Golden Statuette glory at next month’s ceremony telling the broadcaster that his chances are “very high” and declared that he “has it in her eyes” regardless of what happens.

The 34-year-old gushed: “I love that film. I watched it five times in one month when it came out and we were working on this at the time – he did such an exemplary job.
